Farm Day 2026 brings agriculture education Saturday

Farm Day 2026 returns to Tipton County this Saturday, May 9, with a lineup of agricultural experiences, hands-on activities and free family programming at Turner Angus Farm.

Last year’s inaugural event drew more than 700 attendees. This year, organizers are aiming higher. Amanda Bell Newcomb, who chairs the event along with Co-Chair Terri Turner, said the committee hopes to see between 800 and 1,000 people come through the gates.

Farm Day is a wholesome family event that is educational and fun for the kids,” Newcomb said. “There are so many different aspects of agriculture for the children to experience hands-on. The environment is also comfortable for parents and grandparents to enjoy. We certainly hope everyone takes advantage of a great weekend.”

This year’s event expands the on-farm experience section, with Turner Angus Farm offering wagon ride tours of the property, Hopkins providing a farm equipment display, and Lightfoot Farmstead bringing a milking cow and a farm stand bus. Antique tractors from McDow Farm/McDaniel Farms and additional equipment from Hopkins Farms/Burlison Gin will also be on hand.

Visitors can expect a wide range of animal encounters. Participating farms and exhibitors include Casey Miller with Belted Galloway cattle for petting, Amanda Bell Newcomb offering horse rides, Twisted T Farms with meat birds and petting animals, Metzer Ducks on display, Tosh Farms with piglets and pork education, and Milestone Mountain Farms with poultry demonstrations.

Agricultural education booths will be spread throughout the event. Martin Farms will lead a honey and hive demonstration, HighVu Ag is running drone demonstrations, and the Farm Bureau will have an ag simulator and registration booth on site. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Tipton County Master Gardeners, and Burlison Cotton Gin—featuring a cotton picker and bale display—round out the educational lineup.

Tipton County’s three FFA chapters each have a role in Saturday’s programming. Munford FFA will present a farm safety puppet show, Brighton FFA is organizing games and activities, and Covington FFA will lead an ag literacy reading with costumes. Ag in the Classroom coordinators Mary Jean Hall and Lauren Fletcher will also be on site, along with Turquoise Paintbrush for face painting and Rosemary McCane and Ted Turner offering wood burning and carving.

Special guest Julie Hartsfield will be on hand for a wildlife photography display and book signing.

Food will be available for purchase on site. Turner Angus Pizza Farm Food Truck and Tosh Farms, serving pork sandwiches, will both be open during the event.

Newcomb said organizers expect the event to keep growing. “We anticipate this community event growing each year!”

Farm Day 2026 is Saturday, May 9, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Turner Angus Farm, 520 Kenny Lane, Covington, TN 38019. It is hosted by the Tipton County Farm Bureau’s Women in Agriculture committee.
