Atoka man, 58, charged with statutory rape

A 58-year-old Atoka man is facing statutory rape charges after reportedly having sexual encounters with a teenager last week.

According to the affidavit of complaint, a report was filed with Munford Police Friday in which Albert W. Jacobs, of Webb Street, was accused of engaging in sexual activities with a 16-year-old. He reportedly waived his Miranda rights and told police about the intimate encounters with the teenager that had taken place that morning and the explicit photos they exchanged the night before on Snapchat.

Jacobs told police he knew the victim was 16.

Paper Folds News does not identify victims of sexual crimes or provide intimate details of the crimes that are alleged.

Jacobs was charged with two counts of statutory rape, a Class E felony carrying a potential sentence of one to two years per count upon conviction.

He is currently being held in the Tipton County Jail.

Jacobs is considered innocent until proven guilty.

Editor’s note: Jacobs’ booking photo was not available at press time, but will be added to the story when it is available.
