Paper Folds News is supported in part by advertising revenue. We believe readers deserve to know exactly how that works — and exactly where the line is between our business and our journalism.
The Wall Between Editorial and Advertising
Advertising does not influence editorial decisions. Period.
Advertisers do not receive:
- Favorable or preferential news coverage
- Advance notice of stories that may affect them
- Any ability to alter, spike, or delay reporting
- Any say in how they are covered if they become subjects of news stories
If an advertiser is the subject of coverage — critical or otherwise — we report it the same way we would report on anyone else.
How We Label Advertising
All paid advertising is clearly labeled as advertising. Sponsored content, if we ever produce it, will be labeled ‘Sponsored’ or ‘Paid Content’ in a way that cannot be confused with our independent journalism. We do not publish advertorials disguised as news.
Types of Advertising We Accept
Paper Folds News currently accepts display advertising in our digital publications, including our voter guides and on our website. Advertising is available to local businesses, organizations, candidates, and others who wish to reach our audience in Tipton County.
We reserve the right to decline any advertising that conflicts with our editorial values, promotes false information, or that we otherwise determine is not appropriate for our platform. Acceptance of advertising does not constitute editorial endorsement.
Political Advertising
We accept political advertising, including candidate advertisements. Political ads are clearly labeled. Our decision to accept a political ad does not reflect our editorial position on any candidate or race.
Our newsroom does not endorse political candidates.
Conflicts of Interest
We operate in a small county where personal connections are common and unavoidable. Our standard is transparency and good judgment, not zero connection. We document these disclosures.
