Liberty Vintage to host summer art classes for kids in July

Liberty Vintage Marketplace & Studio will offer two separate summer art class series for children ages 10 and up throughout July, giving young artists in Covington the chance to build skills in both drawing and painting.

The classes will be held at Liberty Vintage, 100 Union St., Covington.

Mini Masters Series

Artist Barrie Foster will lead the Mini Masters Series on Thursday mornings in July, walking students through the work of four iconic painters. Each session runs from 10-11:30 a.m. and covers a different master: Claude Monet on July 9, Henri Matisse on July 16, Alma Thomas on July 23 and Vincent Van Gogh on July 30.

Students will learn about each artist’s life and technique, then complete an acrylic reproduction of one of their famous works. Foster will cover color theory, composition and technique. All supplies are provided.

Cost is $35 per class for the first child and $30 for each additional family member.

Drawing Basics

Robin Horn will teach Drawing Basics on Tuesday mornings, July 7-28, from 10-11:30 a.m. The four-session series covers the foundational principles of drawing using various mediums.

The schedule: observation and basic shapes (July 7), line weight, proportion and perspective (July 14), light, shadow, contour and shading (July 21), and rendering and composition (July 28).

Supplies and snacks are provided. Cost is $35 per class for the first child and $30 for each additional family member.
