Effective date: April 2026
Getting things right is the most basic obligation of journalism. When we fall short of that, we say so clearly and fix it fast.
How We Handle Errors
When we publish something inaccurate — a wrong name, a misstated fact, a misleading framing — we:
- Correct the error in the original article
- Add a clearly labeled correction note at the top or bottom of the piece explaining what was wrong and what the correct information is
- Date the correction
- Do not quietly alter published content without disclosure
Types of Corrections
Factual corrections
For errors of fact — a wrong date, a misspelled name, an incorrect figure — we publish a correction labeled ‘Correction’ that states the original error and the corrected information.
Clarifications
When published content was technically accurate but could be reasonably misunderstood, we may add a clarification noting the potential for confusion and providing additional context.
Updates
When facts change after publication — a suspect is released, a vote is reversed, a person recovers — we update the story and label the changes as an update with the date.
Retractions
In rare cases where a story cannot be adequately corrected — because the core premise was wrong or the story should not have been published — we will retract it. Retractions are labeled clearly, and the retracted content is replaced with an explanation of why the retraction was made.
How to Request a Correction
If you believe we’ve published something inaccurate, please contact us. We take correction requests seriously regardless of who they come from.
Email: news@paperfoldsnews.com
Please include the article title or URL, what you believe is inaccurate, and any documentation you can provide. We will investigate and respond.
What We Won’t Do
- We will not alter published content without disclosure
- We will not remove accurate content because a subject finds it unflattering
- We will not issue corrections under pressure when we believe the original reporting was accurate
