Paper Folds News will host a public candidate forum on Tuesday, July 7, at 7 p.m. at the Ruffin Theatre, giving Tipton County voters a chance to hear directly from candidates running in the county general election and the House District 81 race ahead of the Aug. 6 election.
The forum is free and open to the public. All candidates on the ballot – including those in uncontested races – have been invited to participate.
The evening will follow a moderated format, with candidates responding to questions from the Paper Folds News team as well as questions submitted by readers in advance. Audience members will also have the opportunity to ask questions during the event.
“Our goal is simple: We want to make it easy for voters to meet the people asking for their vote, and make it easy for candidates to reach the voters they want to represent,” Echo Rose, Paper Folds’ co-founder and editor-in-chief, said. “We hope increased accessibility will improve voter turnout, too.”
Want to submit a question to the candidates?
Readers can submit questions they’d like candidates to address at the forum at forms.gle/UNMAFi1pE99uggZG6. A limited number of reader-submitted questions will be incorporated into the forum.
Voters Guide coming July 15
Paper Folds will also publish a County General and State Primary Voters Guide on July 15. It will be a free digital download for voters.
Candidates: Have You Heard From Us?
Paper Folds News emailed candidates Wednesday with information about the forum and the Voters Guide questionnaire. If you’re a candidate on the Aug. 6 ballot and did not receive an email from echo@paperfoldsnews.com, please email us directly so we can get you the details on attending the forum and completing the Voters Guide questionnaire.
