Tipton To-Do List: Oct. 2-4, 2026

October is here, and Tipton County is starting the month with food trucks, Friday night lights, a case to crack and two nights of music that give back to local kids.

Here’s what’s happening this weekend:

Friday: lunch in Atoka, football, and a mystery to solve

Friday starts at lunchtime in Atoka, where Paradise Grill is parked in the front lot at Atoka Town Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for Atoka Parks & Recreation’s Food Truck Friday. Look for cheeseburgers, BBQ and smoked chicken tacos, smoked wings in buffalo, sweet, honey gold and Caribbean jerk, BBQ egg rolls, Philly sandwiches and more, with most menu items running $9 to $12.

Three local teams play football at 7 p.m. Munford, 4-1, opens region play at home against Kingsbury, which is 2-4 after a 44-6 loss to Brighton last week. Brighton, 3-3, hosts McCracken County, a 4-2 Kentucky team that has scored at least 43 points in five straight games. Tipton-Rosemark Academy, 1-5, travels to Somerville to face Fayette Academy, 3-3. Read the full previews here.

If you would rather solve a crime than watch a game, 797 Distillery is hosting a free interactive Murder Mystery Night from 7 to 9 p.m. Guests will watch for clues, question the suspects and try to figure out whodunit before the truth is revealed.

Saturday: Depot Beats, Ducks Unlimited and a soul showcase

At 6 p.m., Double Edge Band takes the Liberty Vintage Stage at 100 Union St. for the fourth annual Depot Beats Music Series. The Hickory Chip BBQ food truck will be serving, Mix South will have drinks, and the evening benefits CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) for Children. The music runs until 9 p.m.

Also at 6 p.m., the Highway 51 Chapter of Ducks Unlimited holds its annual banquet at The Balcony, 36 Quinton Drive in Munford. The evening includes a live auction, a silent auction and sweepstakes, with dinner catered by Pink Flamingo, and it runs until 9 p.m. Tickets are available at hwy51ducks.org. For more information, call Carol Collins at 901-570-6353.

Back in Covington, the Boys & Girls Club of the Hatchie River Region brings Soulsville USA to the Covington Civic Center, 100 W. Washington Ave., for the Steak & Burger Soul Showcase. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 7. The Stax Academy Alumni Band headlines, joined by a Crestview Gents reunion performance, DJ Binky Boie and a Club Kids talent showcase, with heavy hors d’oeuvres from Divine Grille Catering. The club has held 15 tickets for sale at the door at $150 each, first come, first served, and every dollar helps build futures for kids right here at home. Dress is blue jeans to business casual, so wear something you can dance in.

Whether you spend the weekend in the stands, at the bar with a case file, bidding at an auction or on the dance floor, Tipton County has plenty to fill it. The links below have details.
