Mayflower Chapter #92 launches ‘Light The Way’ initiative

Mayflower Chapter #92, Subordinate to Excelsior Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Tennessee Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation, recently launched Light The Way, a new philanthropic initiative designed to provide discreet assistance to local families facing utility disconnection.

The initiative takes a unique approach to charitable giving.

Chapter members visit a local utility provider without advance notice and simply ask, “With the charitable funds we have available today, how many families facing disconnection can we help?”

The Chapter does not receive the names or personal information of the families assisted. Instead, the utility provider applies the contribution directly to qualifying customer accounts, allowing families to receive help while maintaining their privacy and dignity.

During Mayflower Chapter #92’s first Light The Way effort, the Chapter partnered with Southwest Tennessee Electric Membership Corporation and provided assistance to 11 Tipton County families facing disconnection.

Mayflower Chapter #92 is a subordinate chapter of Excelsior Grand Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Tennessee Jurisdiction, Prince Hall Affiliation. Based in Covington, the Chapter has quietly supported the community since 1908. Through charitable giving, community engagement, and service, the Chapter seeks to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families throughout the community. Light The Way is guided by three simple commitments: Serve with Purpose. Lead with Light. Leave a Legacy.

For the members of Mayflower Chapter #92, the philosophy behind the initiative is equally simple: The service is the story.
