It’s a packed weekend across Tipton County, kicking off Friday with the opening of Hairspray: The Broadway Musical, presented by The Ruffin. Directed by Courtney Calvin with co-director LeighAnn Gomer, the show follows Tracy Turnblad’s big dreams of dancing her way onto TV — and it’s playing multiple dates, so if Friday’s a no-go, you’ve got July 25, 31, and August 1–2 to catch it too. Tickets are available at tiptonartscouncil.org.
Saturday morning, roll out to Veterans Plaza in Munford for the Farmers & Artisans Market, running 8 a.m. to noon. It’s the last weekly market of the season, with dozens of local vendors selling produce, baked goods, and handmade crafts — after this weekend, the market moves to a monthly schedule with its next dates set for August 15 and September 19.
Come evening, Swifties will want to head to The Turquoise Paintbrush for Swiftie Music Bingo at 5 p.m. It’s a night of Taylor hits, friendly competition, and a complimentary friendship bracelet for every guest, with an optional ceramic-painting add-on for anyone looking to make it a full creative night out. Seating is limited, so reserve ahead.
And to close out the night, the Matt Boone Band takes the stage at 797 Distillery from 7 to 10 p.m. Matt Boone, a 2021 First Ballot Grammy singer-songwriter from Friendship, TN, brings a Southern sound and plenty of energy, with the Llamas Diner food truck and cold drinks from the bar trailer rounding out the evening. It’s free to attend and all ages are welcome.
Don’t miss early voting, either! The polls are open until 5 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Want to know more? Check out Vote Tipton, our interactive voters guide.
Whatever your weekend looks like, Tipton County’s got something for you!
