The Tennessee Department of Health inspected nine establishments in Tipton County during the week of July 13–19, 2026. Two required same-day follow-up visits after routine inspections turned up violations serious enough to trigger a return trip; both improved their scores and needed no further follow-up. No embargoes, closures or imminent health hazards were recorded this week.

Same-day follow-ups

Mac’s BBQ & More, 35 Atoka Munford Ave., Atoka, scored an 89 at a routine inspection July 14 — its lowest score in recent memory (a January 2026 routine scored 96). Inspectors cited seven violations: an unlabeled spray bottle of Dawn and water stored by the barbecue pit (corrected on-site); an unlabeled white container, possibly sugar, stored under the tea brewing station; a bag of onions on the floor of the walk-in cooler; a wet wiping cloth on the counter by the prep table; a sugar scoop stored in an unlabeled container with its handle touching the product; a broken self-closing mechanism on the men’s room door; and an employee drink with a lid left on the prep table.

At a same-day follow-up, the spray-bottle labeling issue was corrected. The other six items — food labeling, contamination prevention, wiping cloth storage, in-use utensil storage, physical facilities and ventilation/lighting — remained open. The score rose to 94. No further follow-up is required.

The Hickory Chip (mobile), based at 5155 TN-59 in Covington and inspected at the intersection of U.S. Highway 51 and Tennessee Highway 59, scored 97 at a routine inspection July 15. Two items were cited: the hand-washing sink was not open for use, corrected on-site, and a damp wiping cloth was found stored on top of the unit’s upright freezer. A negative well-water test dated June 8 was on file.

At a same-day follow-up, the hand sink issue was resolved. The wiping-cloth issue remained open, this time cited under the code for wiping-cloth storage specifically. The score rose to 99. No further follow-up is required.

Domino’s Covington — 1618 Hwy 51, Unit E, Covington — 98 (July 15) Three items cited: dust buildup on top of the pizza oven, an open employee drink stored on a wire shelf near clean dishes by the back door, and a posted inspection report that was outdated (dated January 2025 rather than the most recent visit).

Rising Stars / Munford — 548 Munford Avenue, Munford — 98 (July 14) Two items cited: no drainboards on the three-compartment sink, and a broken drawer under the air fryer.

Walker Park Splash Pad Concessions — 1197 Walker Parkway, Atoka — 99 (July 14) One item cited: no drainboards on the three-compartment sink.

Cassandra’s Family Childcare (home) — 33 Fox Valley Cove, Munford — 99 (July 15) One item cited: a plastic tote was being used in place of a proper three-compartment sink setup for sanitizing.

Oy Vey Bagels and More LLC — 1984 Rosemark Rd., Atoka — 99 (July 17) One item cited: no test strips available for the three-compartment sink.
